Duty: Commissioning, Installation and Validation of an automated line for assembly of medical devices (reinforced tracheal tubes). Project management, preliminary test, engineering, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ. Results achieved: thanks to my engineering support, project management and involvement in the validation, this critical and very complex project has been delivered and the validation for all the different sizes of the assembly product is completed. Validation for the first, critical group of products has taken 7 months in this strongly regulated environment. The production rate has been considerably incremented with the contemporary reduction in the number of operators, an increase in the fabrication quality and implementation of a more effective automated inspection. Value of the project 2 mln $.

The biggest challenge during the management of this project has been the lead of many people from a different culture (the Italian supplier's people and the Irish customer's people) and within different departments, e.g. Engineering, QA, QC, Safety, Maintenance, Fabrication, Top Management. Mitigation of the conflicts arose during the management and commissioning of the project has been another big challenge, as well as the conduction of the Validation maintaining the right equilibrium between the exigencies of complete the validation for all the sizes of the product and, at the same time, of using the machine for the production of the sizes already validated.

Duty: Project management, electronics and automation design, construction and installation of machinery and automatic control systems for industrial automation and process controls. Main projects have been the software and hardware upgrade of the vacuum systems for optical coating, through the automated control of the vacuum cycle in the sputtering chambers and the instruments for the material thickness measurement, the electron guns, or the sputtering magnetrons, for the evaporation of the material (plasma). The projects have been developed for a leading Italian company (Leonardo S.p.A.). With the development of these projects, the client has updated the deposition systems without buying new ones, saving € millions.

• Automation Engineer. Deep experience in management, systems design, system integration, commissioning and validation of automated bespoke machines and equipment for production and testing in regulated production environments, e.g. Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automation & Robotics, Automotive, Food, R&D, lenses and optical filters, High Vacuum, ATEX, Military. Design and development of software and hardware for industrial automation, PC and PLC control systems programming experience, DCS, SCADA, embedded, HMI, image analysis. Electromechanical sensors and actuators, e.g. pneumatic cylinders, stepper, brushless, linear and asynchronous motors and drivers, robot, optical & safety sensors, encoder.
