We are currently recruiting for experienced 1st ENGINEER for cruise vessel CRYSTAL SERENITY Embarkation is 18/APRIL/ Salary will be paid in USD/per month worked on board.

Purpose Statement To ensure that all machinery under their control is operated safely, efficiently and economically, in an environmentally responsible manner, in accordance with CCI regulations and policies.
To supervise Engine in Ratings Team A and to establish regular work schedules, vacation plans and Watch Keeping schedules for all Engine Ratings and Watch Keeping Engineers.
Reports Directly to Assistant Chief Engineer (Onboard) Directly in Charge of 1 x Engine Repairman 2 x Oilers 1 x Wiper CS.
1 x Second Engineer A CS.
1 x Second Engineer B CS.
1 x Second Engineer C General Responsibilities To ensure the proper operation of the ship’s main and auxiliary machinery/equipment assigned to there are of responsibility.
To provide a handover report to the relieving First Engineer A with a copy to the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Chief Engineer whenever leaving the ship for vacation (or any other reason).
To report to the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Chief Engineer upon joining the ship and consulting with the First Engineer being relieved regarding the machinery and equipment for which the First Engineer is responsible.
To read their predecessor’s relief reports when joining the ship and to discuss any unusual circumstances in the report with the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Chief Engineer.
To ensure (when in capacity of relieving First Engineer) that all of the publications and records assigned to the custody of the departing First Engineer are received from the First Engineer being relieved.
To report daily work to the Assistant Chief Engineer.

To ensure that sludge oil transfers and oil record logs are in accordance with the current version of the Waste Management Manual.
To coordinate and develop a vacation plan for Watch Keeping Engineers and Engine ratings which is overseen by Assistant Chief Engineer.
To oversee the daily duties of the Watch Keeping Engineers and Engine Ratings and to develop the Watch Keeping schedules.
To ensure proper maintenance and operation of.
Main Generator Engines and any associated systems Fuel Oil system, including FO tank transfers, Bunkering and L.
Filling, Tanks and Transfer pumps To assist the Assistant Chief Engineer with Bunkering All quick closing valves HT and LT Cooling Water System All machines in the Engine workshop CS.

To accurately log overtime for Engine Ratings and to ensure that Overtime is submitted to the Assistant Chief Engineer in a timely manner.

To oversee signatures of the designated signature-sheet for all Manuals and Directives concerning Watch Keeping Engineers and Engine Ratings in cooperation with Ship Operations Assistant.
CS.
To ensure that a detailed work list is generated for the Second Engineers.
To adhere to and to ensure that the Engine ratings adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives.
To train, coach, counsel, support and delegate the Engine ratings.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer, but not limited to the above.
Education/Position Requirements Minimum 2 years previous experience as a Second Engineer.
Must hold a valid Bahamian License and preferably have a Chief Engineer’s Education in order to obtain the license once experience is gained.
Must hold all valid STCW and SOLAS training certificates and that is required for the position as per Training Manual Appendix 1.
Must have undergone all mandatory and company required training as per Training Manual Appendix 1.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English (needs to score at least 80% in the onboard English proficiency test).
In depth Crystal Basics knowledge and understanding.
Team Communication and Meetings To attend the Chief Engineer’s Meetings as scheduled.
To attend the Monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
To communicate with the Assistant Chief Engineer and the Chief Engineer on a regular basis and to keep them updated on all important issues.
To encourage and demonstrate good communication, excellent teamwork and continuous training, coaching and counseling of subordinates.
Financial Responsibilities To monitor and control overtime for the Engine Ratings.
To ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
Safety Responsibilities To ensure that the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment in the Engine work areas is implemented at all times.
To ensure that Safe Lifting Techniques are practiced at all times by subordinates.
To do In Port Manning duties as scheduled and as required by Company policy.
Emergency Duties.
To follow instructions on Safety Card as assigned by the Chief Officer Safety and Security.
To participate in Guest/Crew Lifeboat Drills as per instructions.
Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Team Education & Training Training of subordinate Engine Department officers and crew to follow safe working practices.
Must and attend all company training as per Training Manual Appendix 1.
Introduction of Job Duties and Departmental functions including continuous on-the-job-training and Safe Lifting Techniques for the Engine Ratings.
