FBK is a private research institution devoted to excellence in research in numerous disciplines and designated to the role of keeping the Autonomous Province of Trento in the mainstream of European and international research.

Workplace description The FBK Center for Digital Industry focuses its research on digital technologies for the various domains in industry (e.
., aerospace, railway, automotive, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, etc.) by creating applications for critical systems, adaptive and autonomous systems, advanced perception, diagnostics and prediction systems.
It is involved in multiple European research projects and collaborates with numerous institutions and multinational companies on strategic projects with a high innovation content – including the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Railways Network (RFI).
The position is opened by the Formal Methods for System and Software Research Unit (FM Unit) of the Digital Industry Center of FBK.
The FM Unit consists of about 35 people, including researchers, post-docs, PhD students, Master Students, and programmers.
The Unit carries out basic and applied research, tool development and technology transfer in the field of formal methods and model-based design for complex embedded systems.

Job Description The activities will be scoped within one or more of the several industrial, technology transfer, or research project the FM unit is involved in, and will focus on one or more of the following topics.
Development of software and tools (e.
., nuXmv, OCRA, xSAP, NuRV, MathSAT, Kratos, COMPASS, COMPASTA and TASTE) supporting the formal design, verification and validation, and dependability assessment of complex systems; Design, development, debugging, testing and deployment of (embedded) software; Documentation of requirements and software according to the different national and international standards adopted in specific projects.
Depending on the experience and seniority of the developers, the activities will include not only programming, but active participation in the analysis of requirements, modelling, and careful design of the software.
Results of the design phase are a set of text documents, software interfaces, standard diagrams, etc.
The candidate is expected to work in collaboration with other researchers, programmers, and students involved in the FM Unit.
Moreover, the candidate may interact with industrial partners and partners of research projects.
Job Requirements The ideal candidate should have.
Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Electronic Engineering or related fields; Good programming skills in at least one programming language among C, C++, Python, Java; Hands-on experience with standard software development environments under Linux or MS Windows (TM); Oral and written proficiency in English.
Other professional skills nice-to-have.
Background knowledge and previous experience in the following areas will be considered favorably.
- Software engineering - Mathematical logic - Model-based design - Formal verification techniques and tools - Satisfiability and constraint solving; Development of embedded systems; Experience with model-based design tools, e.
., Matlab, Scade; Experience in developing system-level applications as plugins for the Eclipse Environment; Experience with parser generators and frameworks like ANTLR, XText or other similar tools; Experience with issue trackers and versioning control systems; Ability to work in a collaborative environment and deliver in research and/or industrial projects; Accuracy, flexibility, proactivity, and goal-oriented attitude.
