Country Medical Director Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Milan, Italy Overview The Medical Affairs Department stands for integrity through unbiased, objective and balanced medical-scientific dialogs with the medical community.
It plays a strategic role in a matrix of major responsibilities.
The Medical Director Italy is the local medical-scientific lead responsible to ensure scientific excellence.
He/she/they is an active member of the international Medical Affairs Leadership and the Italian Leadership Teams.
The successful candidate will be accountable for the development and the implementation of the long and short-term Medical Affairs TTR cardiomyopathy and polyneuropathy strategy and action plans in collaboration with the Global and International Medical TTR teams/leaders related to.
Evidence generation Evidence dissemination – including HCP education programs Key thought leader engagement programs Operational excellence Key Responsibilities Assessment of, responding to and providing medical-scientific advice at request related to the medical-scientific information needs of the medical community (physicians, and other healthcare professionals) Sharing of medical/clinical expertise with and strategic support provision to internal stakeholders from different functional areas (Commercial, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Finance, Compliance, Legal, other) Development (and recruitment) of talent, ensuring that each team members has regular performance reviews, receives timely feed-back and has specific development plans that are implemented in a timely manner Input provision into regional (International) and Global clinical research strategy and support provision (if needed) into phase IV, investigator initiated and collaborative studies Representation of Medical Affairs in pricing and reimbursement teams and meetings and close collaboration with market access and other relevant country stakeholders Leadership/coordination of specific country medical ‘signature’ projects (i.
.
center of excellence, patient finding projects, home nursing etc.) Contribution to the medical training and continuous education of commercial and medical affairs departmental staff Medical-scientific leadership concerning the collaboration with Italian medical professional societies/organizations and key thought leaders (e.
.
clinical investigators, etc.) Management of country’s medical budget and resource allocation with utmost accuracy.
Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations Qualifications M.

(Medical Doctor) and/or PhD and/or equally qualified academic healthcare professional with proven enterprize, strategic, team and personal leadership experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry Medical degree and experience in cardiology preferred Highest level of integrity Inspirational and empathic Customer focused and results oriented Strategic thinker with excellent problem solver with excellent decision -making skills Ideally product launch experience Resilient self -starter, who can act independently and learn quickly Team builder, capable of interacting effectively with external medical contacts and at every level within the company Broad understanding of the regulatory environment in Italy and direct experience in the P&R process in the country Extensive cross-functional project leadership experience and ability to operate effectively in a complex matrix organization Track record in effective management of third-party suppliers and external consultants Perceptive, creative person with the ability to contribute new ideas and to build consensus Business acumen, demonstrating desire to work in a fast-growing environment Ability and willingness to travel including during week-ends (min.
