DATA ARCHITECT

Under limited supervision, creates project level data architecture artifacts for specific projects.
Working with the business, it and other architects, facilitates the creation and evaluation of data models, data governance data strategy through the review of requirements and use cases to recommend project level artifacts with strategic initiatives and with the standard methodologies for development.
Minimum Qualifications.
Bachelor's degree, in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.
A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.

As a Data Architect, this position is focused on long-term data architecture and strategy across the Global Surface portfolio.
Daily activities will include engagement with business and IT architects to assess impacts, decompose strategic initiatives and analyze architectural decisions and trade-offs.
In this position, you will work in close partnership other architects to define conceptual architectural guidance, including refinement of information concepts and logical data models, for solution delivery and product development teams to solve problems with high system interdependency.
You will be a leader in data architecture and inform the best practices of cross-functional, multi-platform systems and work alongside other senior architects.
Primary Responsibilities.
Ensure overall data management concerns are addressed in the solution.
data acquisition, data organization, data governance, data quality, data distribution, data storage and retention, data security, data integration, reference and master data management, analytics, and metadata management.
Align information and data architectures with enterprise business, solution, and technical architectures at the portfolio and solution train levels.
Lead identification of reusable data services to accelerate delivery of value and eliminate data replication.
Collaborate with design DBAs and solution architects to provide leadership on logical designs and transformation to implemented data structures.
Provide conceptual and detailed design of data structures for data at rest (databases) and data in motion (API interfaces, messages).
Establish and accurately document data lineage in the context of solution architecture, data analytics, and FedEx three-tier architecture (Outer Edge, Inner Edge, Solid Core).
Collaborate with data analytics organizations (EDA and DataWorks) and business areas to leverage data lakes to derive insights into operational efficiencies.
Define architectural patterns and platform guidelines to ingest and operationalize data analytic capabilities.
Collaborate with physical design database administrators to implement and enforce platform standards.
Support the impacted application architects & agile release trains during execution.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus.
Experience across all phases of data modeling, from conceptualization to database optimization.
In-depth knowledge of data integration concepts, approaches, and tools to successfully implement data integration strategy.
Data virtualization, analytics, and integration techniques.
Conceptual data modeling techniques.
Data performance optimization and modeling.
Experience with implementing architecture principles and design patterns.
Familiarity with service oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, and data services.
Experience with business and enterprise architecture frameworks such as BIZBOK and TOGAF.
Experience with end-to-end solution architecture for data capabilities including.
Fluent understanding of best practices for supporting data lakes, shared dimensions, and analytical architectures.
Experience in real time and batch data ingestion.
Proven experience in working in large environments such as RDBMS, EDW, NoSQL, etc.
Working knowledge of data modeling tools (preferably Sparx, ER/Studio).
Hands-on experience with multiple data technologies including Oracle, DataStax/Cassandra, Redis, Kafka (at least 3 years).

Desired location for this position would in the previous locations listed however, this position may be located anywhere within the United States.
