DATA WAREHOUSING SPECIALIST

The Data Warehousing Specialist’s responsibilities are to manage a centralised data warehouse, prepare functional or technical documentation, verify the structure, accuracy or quality of warehouse data, map between data source systems, data warehouses and data marts and develop DW process models, including sourcing, loading, transformation and extraction. Creating supporting documentation, such as metadata and diagrams of entity relationships, business processes and process flow. They are also expected to create, organise, and track project plan documents and project progression related to their remit. Accountable for data warehouse management, including modelling, documentation, user access management, transformations, data quality checks, etc. Onboards new smaller data sources into the warehouse independently or works with a team of developers to push larger or cloud-based sources. Creates project plan, functional and technical documentation for the development team, then prepares project status reports and presents project performance updates to relevant business stakeholders. Suggests improvements/best practices and takes ownership of implementing them. Assists BI team on report creation and maintenance. Works with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing. Provides overall leadership in the areas of data management, and auditing of information, including working directly with application developers and clients to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage. Creates risk mitigation strategies to anticipate, assess and resolve project risks as they are encountered. Ensures all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards set by the company. Maintains knowledge on business and technology trends that impact the business environment. Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field Strong project management and organizational skills Experience producing software development scope/specification documentation Very strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to learn quickly and work with best practices More than 5 years’ working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources Experience and knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc. Experience/knowledge of a software programming environment preferred: Programming skills with querying languages: SLQ, SAS, SQL, Power Query, DAX / Data-marts / Data Models ,etc. At least 5 years of experience with AWS services: Redshift, S3, Glue, AppFlow, Wrangler Related MS product knowledge for cloud/reporting/project management: Power BI, Azure, DevOps, SSIS, etc. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, self-starter and maintains positive attitude Excellent time management and organizational skills; coordinate complex projects, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Work independently or as a team player in a team environment We acknowledge receipt of your resume for a position at Global University Systems and sincerely appreciate your interest in our company.
