HEAD OF AERODYNAMIC ENGINEERING

General Summary.
This position reports to the Head of Aerodynamics or their designee; is located in Maranello, Italy.
Responsible for coordinating two groups.
Aero Operations and Aero Design.
This role oversees the activities of these two groups and manage their interaction with other teams within the Aerodynamics department.
General Responsibilities.
Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
Responsible for the overall performance of the department, ensuring targets and milestones are achieved.
Manage department personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
Mentor, train and guide personnel as required.
Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
Responsible for establishing and adhering to departmental budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department.
Produce monthly departmental reports to details the status of the department, including but not limited to, budget actuals and major projects.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of Aerodynamics or their designee.
Key Responsibilities.
Write procedures and plan tests in the model shop and wind tunnel.
Coordinate all activities related to wind tunnel model preparation, including.
Ensuring proper functionality of electronic components.
Conducting 3D scanning of the model.
Managing setup and pre-fit in alignment with aerodynamic plans.
Take an active role in collaborating with the Design Office and the Aerodynamics Group to define and implement modularity strategies.
Monitor and contribute to compliance strategies for FIA wind tunnel regulations (RATG, wind-on time, and occupancy), including the preparation of periodic reports for the FIA.
Create and distribute reports to communicate and evaluate results, ensuring information is shared effectively across relevant teams.
Coordinate the activities of the technical office, with particular focus on efficiency through the improvement of CAD processes.
Analyze wind tunnel test results and take necessary actions to ensure they align with the quality and repeatability standards defined with the line manager.
Act as a mentor and guide for team members.
Create and maintain accurate documentation related to the components of the wind tunnel model.
Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
Oversee the ad hoc projects as assigned.
Education and Work Experience.
A degree in Engineering with a specialization in Aerodynamics, Mechanics, or an equivalent qualification is required.
At least 6 years of professional experience, which must include time in motorsport and partly within a wind tunnel environment.
Proven experience in leading a team.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills.
Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
Have an excellent understanding of English language.
Strong technical background in racing car.
Proven experience with CAD software.
Have an excellent understanding of aerodynamics and fluid analysis.
Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.

Equipment and Applications.
Computer with Microsoft Office and engineering packages including but not limited to, wind tunnel, basic measurements tools, fabrication tools.
Thorough understanding of and experience with CAD, with expertise in CATIA/3DX.
Data Acquisition experience is helpful.
