Job Description HVAC Technician As an HVAC technician, your role revolves around installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in various settings.
Installing HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioning units, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment, following blueprints, design specifications, and local building codes.
Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters, inspecting ductwork, lubricating moving parts, and testing system performance to ensure optimal efficiency and longevity.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC system malfunctions, identifying faulty components, and repairing or replacing parts as needed to restore functionality and efficiency.
Handling refrigerants safely and responsibly, following EPA regulations for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and disposal.
Conducting tests and performance checks on HVAC systems to verify proper operation, airflow, temperature control, and humidity levels.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a vocational school program, apprenticeship, or HVAC certification is preferred.
Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with hands-on experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems.
Experience with different types of HVAC equipment and controls is advantageous.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, electrical circuits, refrigeration principles, and troubleshooting techniques.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose HVAC system issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
Thorough attention to detail in performing installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with specifications.
