April 10th, The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is an interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and healthy aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational biology, structural biology, neuroscience and health data science.
HT scientists work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment to help promote life science research nationally and internationally.
In line with its mission to serve the research community at large, HT operates National Facilities, specifically aimed at making HT’s technologies, methods and tools available to the national scientific community.
The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a Junior Desktop Support Officer.
The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is in the first phase of building its core IT Infrastructure and the team that will be responsible for the implementation and continued maintenance of various centralized IT systems and for supporting the HT use community in terms of their IT requirements.
Maximum flexibility is required to work in the office 5 days/week (on exceptional occasions it will be possible to work remotely).
This position is placed within the HT IT Team and reports to the Service Desk Coordinator.
Your main tasks and responsibilities.
Providing excellent desktop computing support to our users.
The environment is expected to grow to + computers and mobile devices, including support for MacOS, Windows, Linux, and support for mobile operating systems; Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software; Install computer peripherals for users; Providing effective troubleshooting for desktop and mobile device software, hardware and network-related issues; Performing an initial level of diagnosis of incidents, resolving or escalating identified issues appropriately; Management of company printers, such as controlling the status of toners, troubleshooting the printers in case of failure, contacting the vendor to request support for technical issues.
Physically or remotely accessing hardware or software for clients to make changes and correct problems; Providing a knowledgeable, friendly and reliable IT helpdesk service; Creating help articles or tutorials for users, keeping information up to date; Provide accurate information of HT IT products or services; Tracking and documenting of support requests to assure a high quality of service and end user satisfaction; Use of Ticketing System and Monitoring Software; Define a catalogue of services related to the software present in the research centre; Management of assets and licenses in the system through Asset Management systems; Identifying areas to automate and improve IT support processes.
Mandatory requirements.
Degree in Computer Science, related fields or equivalent experience; Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute; Previous experience in a similar role (e.
., internships); Proficient use of operating systems (Windows, Mac OS) Preferred requirements.
Previous work experience in publicly funded or private research institutes; Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop versions; Basic usage of commanding skills (Terminal, Powershell); Working knowledge of Linux flavours; Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Management; Working knowledge of deployment systems (Microsoft Intune, JAMF Pro); Working knowledge of Office 365.
