The business is expected to experience solid growth over the next 5 to 7 years. Key Objectives.
Working closely with global, regional, and local teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for finding, leading and executing external partnership and acquisition opportunities in medtech (including digital health) fields within Japan.
Responsibilities.
Working closely with commercial teams, find and analyze new innovative business opportunities based on insight of unmet customer and market needs to drive inorganic growth for Medical Company Japan and the global MedTech business.
– Conduct primary and secondary research on market and technology to generate inputs for strategy formation and deal origination – Develop growth strategies involving external opportunities for Japan market in partnership with Global and Japan teams – Prepare market and valuation models – Conduct and manage due diligence – Lead and participate in negotiation, structuring, and closing of transactions § Manages and leads the Medical Company NBD Japan team to deliver high quality output and to ensure talent development – Ensures the coordination and facilitation and commitments with other departments, business units, and functions – Prepares and monitors department budget and oversees expenses Lead cross functional teams and execute external partnership opportunities in line with company strategy and Our Credo – Build and maintain connections with key stakeholders internally and externally – Present partnership opportunities to Country and Regional Senior Leaders Oversees continuing internal review process for progress on established objectives – Establish the road map for new business development and follow-up activities to visualize from market creation, increasing awareness through to adoption after products launch § Advances the innovation agenda of Medical Company Japan – Establish grounds for engagement in the Global NPD process to introduce Japan insights in global projects – Create a platform to deliver Japan innovation to global R&D process § Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, in addition to external targets aligned to business opportunities Qualifications Required Experiences and Skills.
Experience in finding and analyzing innovation in medtech (including digital) fields and developing business cases for opportunities Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive inorganic growth strategies Strong business, negotiation, organizational, project management, analytical, decision-making, and influence management skills Solid professional network in Japan Ability to effectively communicate (verbally, written, PowerPoint) in English and Japanese and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally, and of varying levels from functional personnel to senior leaders at a country, regional and global level Ability to prioritize tasks, manage several projects simultaneously, and operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary matrix environment Demonstrated people management and leadership skills and experience leading cross functional teams to deliver results Can demonstrate attention to detail, methodical work approach, strong ownership of work assigned and can deliver results Significant work experience to show a track record of working independently across functions and business units in a manner that is aligned with Our Credo Educational Requirements.
· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university with at least 7 years of business experience or MBA/other advanced degree with at least 5 years relevant business experience Preferred.
Licensing, mergers/acquisitions, consulting or banking experience is preferred Experience in a customer/external facing role strongly preferred Medical device/medtech industry/ healthcare industry experience strongly preferred Other.
· Fluent in Japanese and English · This role may require up to 30% domestic and international travel
