YOUR TEAM You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where molecular biologist, genomic technologists and computational scientists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research.
The non-coding RNAs and RNA-based therapeutics Research Line is coordinated by Prof.
Stefano Gustincich, with a well established academic record in the field of the functional genomics of non-coding RNAs.
The study involves the use of molecular biology and next-generation sequencing techniques to investigate the role of LINE-1 retrotransposons as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the epigenetic and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression during developmental processes of the murine and human brain by taking advantage of in vitro and in vivo models, and how dysregulations of LINE-1 retrotransposon activity could impact the onset and development of neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.
