We are seeking a candidate for a PhD position to join our team (Neurobiology Laboratory) at the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Piemonte Orientale, Novara (ITALY).
The project aims to decode dysfunctional RNA transcription and processing by dominant haploinsufficiency in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Moreover, the candidate will investigate the therapeutic potential of specific RNA molecules (SINEUPs) to rescue the transcriptional phenotypes caused by dominant haploinsufficiency.
This will provide a strong Proof-of-Concept for the development of a novel RNA-based therapy for neurodevelopmental syndromes.
The Lab is located in Novara, the northern part of Italy, a beautiful city with easy access to the Alps and not far from the sea.
We are part of a young, vibrant scientific community, and the department is a top-ranked academic institute in biomedicine and biotechnology.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated young scientist keen to investigate the biology of ASD and develop novel RNA-based therapies.
The candidate will conduct cutting-edge research with a strong translational impact on neurodevelopmental syndromes.
The ideal candidate is a determined and creative individual with an MSc in biology, neuroscience, or related fields.
Previous experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, coupled with a background in neuroscience, is desirable.
The candidate will be an active participant in the exciting international ASD research community.

students are enrolled in the International Doctoral Program in Food, Health and Longevity (University of Piemonte Orientale).
The program starts in November and lasts for three years.
