The position is responsible for driving laboratory/pilot investigations in support of Proof of Principle (PoP) and Proof of Concept (PoC) of new technology projects, as well as supporting batch release and process troubleshooting in small molecule drug substance manufacturing.
Activities include assisting with product development and characterization, as well as evaluations with physiochemical analytical tools to assess product properties in support of development activities and technology evaluations.
Key Responsibilities.
Use various analytical methods (e.
.
MIDIR, Raman, FBRM, UPLC, etc.) to characterize product and process behavior and report findings as part of PoP/PoCs, product technical transfer, or technology evaluations.
Use standard statistical tools to evaluate process capability when testing new tools being investigated for deployment into manufacturing.
Interact with other departments (including but not limited to Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, MAM) and external vendors to communicate project needs and user requirements.
Give training to other departments as needed to support technology transfer.
Present process improvement ideas within/outside the department.
Assist with scouting of new technologies and methodologies.
Carry out functional responsibilities in accordance with all applicable SOPs and Regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Education.
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering or other related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical or process development experience is required, OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical or process development experience is required.

Understanding of basic statistical principals (e.

Design of Experiments) is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail are required.
Ability to build strategic working relationships inside and outside the department, and ability to collaborate in a diverse global environment are required.
Self-motivation with the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required.
Preferred.
Knowledge of advanced data analysis tools (e.
.
multivariate analysis, data transformation, spectral analysis, etc.) and software would be a strong asset.
Basic understanding of the Dutch language preferred.

Strong proficiency in English is required.
