Setting and Reporting The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.
This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Warehouse & Distribution, Delivery & Return Section, Supply Chain Service.
This position reports directly to the Chief, Warehouse & Distribution.
Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following duties.
Supply.
- Supports more senior staff with respect to all aspects of major services contracts.
- Maintains database used by DOS and field missions to monitor mission specific and Systems Contracts reports.
- Maintains supporting files and database with respect to Supply section Letters of Assistance (LOA).
- Controls and manages supply related items requisitioning and delivery.
- Records contract actions and monitors activity.
This includes coordinating with missions on delivery schedules, follow-up and receipt of Receiving and Inspection (R&I) Reports, verification of invoices against R&I reports, recording contract status at all stages of processes.
Transport.
- Manages and maintains records of the direct provisioning process.
- Establishes and maintains relevant reference library.
- Co-ordinates with missions on spare parts consumption rates and usage patterns.
General.
- Prepares requisitions and enters inventory data to initiate requisition process.
Provides updates of requisition status on a regular basis.
- Reviews cost estimates for input into budget formulation.
- Monitors budget estimates and reports on funding allocations.
- Maintains, updates and ensures accuracy and completeness of computer database recording requisition details, purchase orders, delivery and invoice actions.
- Prepares relevant Letters of Assistance (LOAs) and obtains the funding certification.
- Familiarizes new staff with respect to work requirements and applicable UN guidelines and office procedures.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other duties as required.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification Forklift permit (3 Ton and above) is required.
Driving Licence type “C” is desirable.
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience Five (5) years of experience in supply management,, logistics or related area is required.
The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Experience working with SAP/ERP warehouse modules is required.
Experience in warehousing is required.
Experience in Air Cargo loading operations is desirable.
Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
Special Notice This position is open for recruitment for an initial period of one year with possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds.
Recruitment for this position is done on local basis.
